History

Our school opened in 1987 to cater for the children of Holy Family parish. Although the school was built for 500 pupils, the reputation of the school resulted quickly in an enrolment of 1198 pupils. During this period of dramatic growth the staff of the school under the astute leadership of founding principal, Paddy Mc Laughlin, ensured that the school maintained a homely atmosphere allied to high educational standards.

In 1998, the current principal, Garry Matthewson, took over the headship and worked in partnership with a very gifted senior leadership team to guide the school forward to its present situation of being an outstanding and inclusive place of learning.

The journey of the school has been distinguished with awards including:

  • The BDA Dyslexic Friendly School Award
  • Investors in People Gold award
  • Investors in People Champion Award
  • The Marjorie Boxall Nurture Quality Mark Award
  • ICT Mark Award
  • The Health Promoting School Gold Award

These awards are indicative of the forward-thinking nature of the Governors and staff who always go the extra mile to ensure that our pupils are provided with the best support and opportunities possible.

Moving forward, it is our intention to ensure that we continue to build on these strong foundations so that future generations of Holy Family pupils attain the high standards and personal fulfilment of their predecessors.

In a sentence, we will continue to do all in our power to ensure that every Holy Family pupil has life and life to the full.
